On Wednesday 28th May, the major project showcase for HSC and Preliminary Aboriginal Studies was held in the library. It was a fabulous evening with an impressive turnout of students, parents and community members. It was a great opportunity for the girls to showcase their incredible work and to show their appreciation to those who assisted them with their projects. The girls enthusiasm and hard work has resulted in some outstanding projects that have made their teachers Ms. Griffin, Ms. Saunders and Mr Snow very proud.
The Preliminary projects are still on display and the HSC projects will displayed in the library later this term.

At the end of last semester the students in 7L, 7A, 7K and 7G produced museum dioramas for their last History assignment on Ancient China. The girls clearly put a great deal of effort and work into their assignments with some fabulous results.
The students worked in teams of three or four to create a museum layout displaying different aspects of Ancient Chinese history and culture. This task allowed the girls to put the skills they had learned throughout the semester into practice. They used their research skills to find sources including artefacts that they would like to see displayed in their museum. They were also required to show source analysis by explaining their selections. The visual aspect of this project gave the students an opportunity to show off their creativity. These are some of the best projects I have seen for this assignment and the bar has been set high for students in 7M, 7C, 7E and 7R who are studying History this semester. 8.7 Technology have worked with Ms Parsifal to create some fabulous jewellery stands that are on display in the library now. Their brief was to design and construct a jewellery stand to organise and display jewellery items. It had to be no more than 30cm in height and be free standing and stable. An important requirement for this assignment was that the stand must reflect their personality and individuality. This really comes through when they are displayed as a group. I am always amazed at the creativity of our girls and so impressed with how they can produce such high quality, individual pieces that all meet the same brief. Well done ladies! Year 9 Child Studies assessment tasks are on display in the Library this week! Mrs De Angelis' class had to design a nursery and take care of an egg to simulate the responsibilities of a new born baby. The assignment lasted for a week and the students had to document their experiences in a journal. With trips to the beach and going out to the shops, it seemed like an eventful week for the girls and the eggs. We particularly enjoyed reading about the adventures of Eggbert, Eric, Lily, and April. The girls did an eggcellent job (Sorry! Couldn't resist this terrible pun.) and all of the eggs lived happily ever after. |
