It has been an exciting few weeks here at Mackellar Library! On 8th March we celebrated International Women’s Day. This is a great opportunity for the girls at Mackellar to read up about not only the amazing women who have come before us, but how women are currently paving the way in our society. Books written by and about different women were put on display to encourage our students to borrow. The year 7 GAT project took place across weeks 7 and 8 and saw the students researching issues of equality in contemporary Australia. The students worked hard, guided by some of our great teachers, and created a written report to show what they have learnt during their research. Topics ranged from the gender pay gap, inequality in male and female sport, Aboriginal inequality in the education system, and even to discussing inequality for people with a disability in the education sector and the workplace. The end of week 8 also saw the exciting arrival of a new main desk in the library. The new desk allows for an increase in the space designated for student study. Additionally, the loan limit for ebooks and audio books has increased to 4 books per student for 14 days. Here be dragons! The library currently has a new display that is all things dragons. A range of books focusing on dragons have been put on display for the students to enjoy and borrow. 🐲💪📗📚 Mrs Reed and Mr Bailey
