No date?
Firstly you need to make sure you have thoroughly searched for a date. On a website this might be in small print at the bottom or it might be in an ‘about’ section on the site.
If you still can’t find a date you need to ask why. You must use critical thinking skills to evaluate the source and ensure it is reliable and trustworthy. You shouldn’t be using unreliable sources in your work.
If you decide it is a reliable source and you still want to use it n.d. can be used in place of a date.
Your reference should look like this
Smith, J. (n.d.) Beach safety. Retrieved August, 2017 from http://www.nswbeaches.com
When used in intext referencing it should look like this
(Smith, n.d.)
When footnoting it should look like this
Smith, n.d.
